art classes and computer animation

Postby samaireen » Mon Aug 18, 2014 2:42 am

I'm really interested in animation. Sounds corny, but my dream is to work at Pixar. I'm a junior in high school. What kind of colleges should I look at? Is there a specific 'animation' career or should I take certain art classes and computer animation electives? Did you need to have taken a lot of art in high school? Because I haven't had time in my schedule for ANY art class. My senior year will have 3 art classes per semester (a total of six), but is that enough? Can I give in a portfolio of work I did on my own in my spare time?

There is a good app for making the animation which is called FlipaClip. Here is the link to watch the review. This app allows making cartoons using frame-by-frame animation. This method is good to start with if you wanna learn some animation skills. The interface is rather convenient and there is a lot of different tools in this app. Hope it will come in handy.
