OT: AI Painter.

Postby lylejk » Wed Sep 16, 2015 1:15 pm

Someone at GIMPChat shared this site which tries to replicate any painting style on your image. It's not like DAP, which is brush oriented. It's based on this research which requires intense GPU acceleration (and my card isn't CUDA compatible so I had to pass). AI Painter results from their site give you low rez results unfortunately, but it's free (accept you have to provide them an email address; I passed on that too. lol). Below's the link to the pertinent threads so you can see some examples as well as the open source program for those technical gurus out their. :)

https://github.com/jcjohnson/neural-style (for open source program for those of technical know-how)

https://www.instapainting.com/ai-painter (free to use, but low rez output and it will cost you an email address)

@ JessicaK:

This forum is about virtual painting software, not about physical painting.

Are you an advertizing bot?

I was reading over the forum looking for some ideas, and this caught my attention. There are tons of articles about Instapainting.

Anyways, just my two cents.

Cheers,
Jess.

This reminds me a paper I read years ago, the name escapes me now. But it was like a learning filter. You show it both input and existing output with whatever filters or editing you applied to it by yourself and then it could extrapolate the alghorythm how to get from the input to the output. That could be then applied to another image. The fun of that really become when you took two unrelated images and claimed one is input and the other one is output. it could create really weird "filters" that were more like an inpainting. I am sure the idea was simillar. It also took forever to calculate and was based on neural networks, whatever that means. kind of exciting view of a future when this could really work well - wouldn't that be amazing?
All of those experiments are deep down based on various shades of texture quilting or texture synthesis - how to merge one part of texture into another without showing the seams then to extract proper texture from one image and fit it to another while keeping up the features of the second image.
Think about DAP that could create the best possible brushes dynamically from a painting to fit into the photo features instead of doing it from existing brush presets. That is basically what the above described neural whatever-whatever alghorythm is trying to be.

neural networks softwares

Some new kind of Softwares that get 2 images from you (main and sample) work on main with using samples.
they actually works by simulating the way your brain sees images.
Sometimes they paint masterpieces and Sometimes they don't work at all.
the developers say:"To be honest, we're not yet sure why it works."

some samples of this new kind of programming:

I really wish and hope Master Oscar with his creative mind can do this sometimes.
