DAP Tips and Tricks
Re: DAP Tips and Tricks
You need an extractor not a converter
I have not tried any, but maybe this is what you need.. https://sourceforge.net/projects/jpegextractor/

Re: DAP Tips and Tricks
After all that , the 2 pallet files are not in the .pal file
They are in the .aop
I used a program called X-Ripper and it extracted the colour and brushes pallets ( perhaps all the other programs I've tried would have worked if I had used the .aop file)
Thanks

How to upload new Canvas?
The Canvas section of the program suggests that we can add new files to use as the painting canvas but there is no way in the user interface to achieve this! Am I missing something obvious?
Re: DAP Tips and Tricks
in C://program files/dap/Canvas ( or YOUR dap path )
There is a txt file ( canvas.txt ) for instuctions to create your own canvas
It says :-
Put custom canvas JPG files in this folder, then restart DAP.
Custom canvas is:
- perfectly seamless
- large, like 1000x1000 points for example
- colors are ignored, only shading
- usually very light in shade with little contrast so it doesn't overpower the image
- short meaningfull name, like Paper2 etc.
So create a jpg of 1000x1000 pixels of your canvas and put it in this "canvas" folder
And restart DAP
It gets added to the dropdown under "Canvas Texture"

Re: DAP Tips and Tricks
Thanks Mitch - but I followed those instructions and my JPG did not appear in the dropdown. Do you fancy trying and reporting back?

Thanks for taking the time to help with this Ron.
I see it now - doh! I was expecting to see my canvas in the "Canvas Presets" area at the top, didn't look in the dropdown.
Cheers.

(Tip]: get quick preview thumbnail for a preset
Hello,
in DAP 6
some presets don't generate "quick preview" large thumbnail automaticaly
(the ones that don't run in batch mode either that are underpaint only for the most part), the quick preview can be seen when you mouse over a preset in "presets" or in "painter" tabs
(a customizable quick preview pops up much larger than the preset thumbnail itself)
TIP:
to force them to generate a quick preview:
if you press enter it doesn't work so click "yes" instead

to force them to generate a quick preview:
- run the preset to get a picture "Dapized" by the preset
- go to menu "Painter"
- click on "use curent output as quick preview"
