Members Paintings (General)
Re: Members Paintings (General)
I am new here and am not quite sure where to post paintings. Golden Age preset for instance but where should I be posting it? I prefer realistic photo-paintings of animals, dogs and horses.
Re: Members Paintings (General)
Welcome.
In case of doubt, "general" won't be the worst choice.
With focus on realism and details rather for a target object than for its surroundings (imagine huge painted movie posters over cinema entrances), "hyperrealism" may also be a good place. You will find a few samples with TV series casts on my deviantArt gallery (in my signature is a link to my DAP group, but I mean my private gallery).

Re: Members Paintings (General)
Thanks so much, appreciate it! Just checked out your paintings, most impressive. I downloaded the AOP but am going to need a little help. I thought I could just copy the preset right into the DAP program folder but can't find any other aop files. Is there a place I can get started on the care and feeding of AOP? Thanks (I am very new to DAP)
Never mind I got it

If you have a packaged template (*.dpk), then start DAP "as administrator" (right-click the icon to select this context menu entry), then select "Install Template..." in the "Tools" menu, and load the *.dpk file. Maybe restart DAP to get the template displayed in the selector.
If you have only ZIP/7z/RAR archived *.aop (and possibly related) files, you will have to copy them to the "objectpacks" subfolder in your DAP installation (and maybe some in "Help"), which will require administrative confirmation when your UAC is active.
At least this was the procedure for DAP 2.x and DAPx64 Pro 3.x; not sure if DAP 4.x has different locations, I did not yet use the current version.

Re: Members Paintings (General)
What I did, was to open DAP then go to Tools/Install templates. I turned UAC off but I still got complaints that I have to run as Admin. So then I went into Windows Explorer and right clicked on the DAP executable and selected run as administrator. And that worked. Like I say I am very new to DAP and have tried the Deviant preset so far. Nice results. I would like to get the best results from all the presets but don't quite understand how to use the mouse to assist with painting the strokes while the program is running. Do all presets benefit from this?
Re: Members Paintings (General)
Mouse assisted painting should not be the default. With well chosen options and a lucky palette choice, automatic painting should be sufficient in many cases. But that requires a bit experience, and is not the topic in this thread...
